Seasonal Reading Series

The KSU Alumni Association recently requested suggestions for a Seasonal Reading list.Thank you to all who submitted. The Association hopes you find the following list of books exciting and enjoyable to read.

 

Safe Haven

A woman named Katie suddenly appears in Southport, a small town in North Carolina.  Her behavior is mysterious and she is determined to avoid forming personal ties. Katie slowly began to gain interest in Alex, a widowed storeowner and Jo, her neighbor. She slowly began to open up to Alex, his family, and the community. As she falls in love she struggles with dark secrets that still haunts and terrifies her. She eventually realizes she must choose between a life of risky reward and safety. Love is the only true safe haven.

And the Mountains Echoed
by Khaled Hosseini


And the Mountain Echoed is about how we love and take care of one another. Hosseini focuses on how the choices we make have an effect on future generations. In the book he describes how family is suppose to love one another and make sacrifices. He uses situations between parents and children, cousin and cousin, and brother and sister to depict the values he deem most important. The story becomes more emotionally complex and powerful with each turning page.
